What is the ruling on rennet (enzymes) used in many foods such as cheese, especially if it comes from impure animals like pigs, or from halal animals that were not properly slaughtered? Does it matter if the quantity used is small?
Answer
In the name of Allah, animal rennet taken from animals that are not lawful to eat is not permissible to consume, including cheese made from it. Likewise, rennet from halal animals that were not properly slaughtered (not dhabihah) is also not permissible, regardless of the quantity used. Allah knows best.
